FC Delco History

The History of FC DELCO.

FC DELCO is the compilation of two clubs: Spirit United, formed in 1982, and FC DELCO, formed in 1989. The two clubs merged in 2013 to form CFC or Continental Football Club. In 2019, in order to honor the legacy of FC DELCO, Continental FC once again became FC DELCO.

Teams from our club have won 8 National Championships and numerous Regional and State Titles. FC DELCO produced well-known players including Ben Olsen, former DC United Head Coach; Jeff Larentowicz, former midfielder/defender for the MLS Cup Champions, Atlanta United; Zack Steffen, goalkeeper for the US Men’s National Team and Manchester City FC; and Nicole Barnhart two-time Olympic gold medalist and goalkeeper for Kansas City in the NWSL. Additionally, Colleen Flanagan played for Spirit United and FC DELCO, went to the University of Virginia, and played for the Atlanta Beat in the WPS.
